Biography

Born William Thomas Hall on 25th November 1982 to a musical family in Northampton. Will was the second child of parents Tom and Diane Hall with older sister Katharine and younger sister Edith. He enjoyed a simple life with his father, well known folk musician and singer and keen follower of cricket and rugby, and his musician/ singer mother in a terrace house in the Abington area.

Will’s secondary education took place at Northampton School for Boys where he stayed until he completed his A Levels in their sixth form. He excelled at drama co winning a Northampton prize for his performance of a duologue from Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. However, after gaining his A Level in Drama he decided not to continue with his drama training, feeling it to be too pretentious and false.

A self taught musician and singer Will began to fuel his interest in music by playing the guitar at fifteen years old; in order to become more popular with the ladies. A keen cricketer, with his leg spin bowling, and a determined rugby player, playing Full Back, his competitive nature and team spirit meant he excelled in sport and enjoyed sharing this interest with his father.

Will attended Anglia Polytechnic University reading BA Hons History and Film Studies, graduating in 2005. His social life flourished, being a valid and respected member of the university Rugby and Cricket teams. After starting uni as a long haired, shy, guitarist (eating only pies) and knowing few people in his first semester, the ‘boy who no one knew’, emerged a one of the most sociable and fun members of the university scene, being known by all as ‘Ewok.’ Unfortunately although university is well known to be one of Will’s most enjoyable times in his life it coincided with the saddest, the death of his father on 25th February 2003.

Now pursuing his music career and working hard, he has recorded, produced, written and performed over 300 of his own original compositions as well as doing numerous recordings of covers and now entering into the realm of remixing. He has gigged in both Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, to crowds of up to 600 people.

His largest music influence has been his father, Tom Hall. Supported by a huge network of people including his extremely supportive and encouraging mother, Diane Hall, and family friends Guy Fletcher, Steve Gibbs and Mark Griffiths he continues to follow his musical dreams. Other influences include Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, BB King, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters and Bruce Springsteen, although this is not an exhaustive list.

The genre of his music is difficult to define as he draws from such a wide range of musical influences; blues, jazz, folk, country and rock. But to be general he is a fusion of blues with a jazz twist, a fun and natural performer.
